Pokémon Celebrates 30th Anniversary With 9 New Collectible Sets October 24

It's been an unrivaled run for Pokémon. For the past 30 years, it's been a staple of video games and anime, and it doesn't look like it's ending any time soon. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Pokémon has just released nine different card sets, one for each of the game's main regions (minus Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Hisui region.)

These new collectibles come from Takara Tomy, a long-standing Pokémon partner that has released collectibles for decades. It's a great time to be a Pokémon fan, and with the upcoming holiday season, Takara Tomy's latest collectible release will make for the perfect gift for any fan of the franchise, no matter which generation of the hit game they're a fan of.

Pokémon Released Nine New Collectible Sets

Pokémon is celebrating its three-decade run in style. Each of the collectible sets features some of the most beloved Pokémon in the franchise. The Kanto Region set, based on the region that started it all, features the "Journey's Start" set, including Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, arguably the three greatest starter Pokémon in the series.

The Kanto Region set also includes Jigglypuff, Psyduck, Snorlax, and Mewtwo, as if fans couldn't get enough from this era of Pokémon. Fans can grab all three starts together in a single box and any of the other four Pokémon individually. Every set follows this pattern, including the starter Pokémon of the region together while throwing in some legendary and other popular Pokémon separately.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl fans are in for a treat with Sinnoh's Dialga and Palkia available together as a set. They can also get their hands on Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup in another set, and Garchomp, Lucario, Glaceon and Arceus as individuals.

It's a Great Time to Be a Pokémon Fan

Thirty years later, there's no slowing down the Pokémon franchise. Pokémon Wind and Waves is set for release some time in November 2027, and it's going to take players to an all-new area yet again. It will be set in a tropical archipelago, a brand-new region type for the franchise that will heavily promote open-world exploration, island-hopping, and so much more.

Delta Reign, the sixth main expansion for Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution, is set for a November 2026 release as well, right before the holiday season. Trainer boxes will include nine booster packs from the expansion, art foil promo cards, card sleeves, and energy cards. The next generation of Pokémon is around the corner for both video game and card players.

Takara Tomy's latest line of collectibles is a great opportunity for fans of the series to get their hands on some relatively rare collectibles. Everyone who plays the Pokémon video games joins the franchise at a different time, and it's a great chance to get some high quality 3D Pokemon collectibles from the era fans identify with most.
