Before World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4th, developer Blizzard Entertainment revealed rulesets that you can choose for yourself. Rather than asking players to pick the “right” realm before creating a character, World of Warcraft: Forever lets you choose the kind of experience you want to have first.
“Every journey through Azeroth begins with a choice about the kind of world you want to step into. In World of Warcraft: Forever, we’re changing how that journey begins by moving away from the traditional realm-selection screen and introducing rulesets instead.
Each ruleset functions more like a broad player ecosystem than a single traditional realm, making it easier to find others who share your preferred playstyle while preserving the feeling of a living, active Azeroth.”
There are four rulesets to choose from:
- Normal: it allows you to focus on adventuring and fighting monsters while allowing you to fight other players at your own discretion.
- PvP: focus on player versus player combat: you are almost always at risk of being attacked by opposing players.
- Roleplay: follows strict naming conventions and behavior rules for players interested in immersing themselves as a character in a fantasy-based world.
- Hardcore: this challenging ruleset features permanent player character death. Dead characters may transfer to other rulesets to be resurrected.
